Review: Here’s What We Think of the New Syrian Shawarma Joint “Akleh”

This review is based on their Sheikh Zayed branch and we have to say, it was quite a bad experience.

See, I love Shawarma as the next person in line, Syrian Shawarma to be exact, so whenever I hear that there’s a new one in town, I have to try it and I’m never too quick to judge.

My experience with the restaurant was not at all as I expected. I ordered their signature Double Arabian Chicken Shawarma and their Double Crispy Chicken Shawarma, and I have to say that I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food that was served.

We do believe that there is a lot of potentials for this Syrian restaurant, to be one of the best out there, It’s just that they need to bear in mind a few tips that can literally change everything for them.

It was not really a good experience. Given that we ordered from the restaurant more than 9 times. We were very enthusiastic about it, but it failed to impress us on so many levels. We try not to be harsh when it comes to our reviews, so please bear in mind that this is the best that we could do in terms of being unbiased toward the startup!

Total Score iSo, if you are planning to order from them you should be expecting the following:
  • Quality
    75/100 Very good
The food was made with high-quality ingredients for sure. However, Everything that has to do after securing good quality chicken/meat ruins the culinary experience.
  • Service
    60/100 Normal
So, what do you serve with Arabian Shawarma? Good fries? A cold can of soda? and a fork. right? Well, every time I ordered, there was always something missing.
  • Delivery
    50/100 Neutral
This is the worst criterion. I can confidently say that the whole experience was always ruined by their delivery. The food was always cold (imagine eating a cold Syrian Shawarma!), and they were always late, took them from 45 to an hour and a half to deliver the food, even though I'm around 10 minutes away from their Sheikh Zayed branch. The food was always beaten up to the extent that once the soda can broke and it was all over the food.
  • Price
    50/100 Neutral
Given all that is mentioned above, I thought that perhaps maybe paying more will guarantee a better culinary experience, but sadly, it was quite the contrary. I do not believe that it's the best value for money.
  • Customer Service
    100/100 The best
I'd give them this at least. Their customer service was astounding. They were receptive and immediately offered me compensation. But their compensation order was truly worse than the previous order.

The Good

  • Customer Service
  • Quality of Ingredients
  • Taste

The Bad

  • Delivery Time
  • Quality of Serving
