Ever since COVID-19 hit and I personally found it hard to find a decent series to watch. So, I started browsing series that I usually would not even bother to open, little did I know that they would instantly hook me. There are plenty of series that I can mention for the year 2023, but in this article, I’m going to tackle just two of them: Lore (an Amazon Original) and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities.
Both of the series are categorized under “horror” or “thrillers”, also both series have independent episodes (meaning that each episode holds its own story. You can watch each episode on its own). Both tell stories; Lore’s episodes are based on real people and real events, while Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities episodes are based on stories directed by Guillermo del Toro but written by different geniuses such as David Prior, Vincenzo Natali, and Keith Thomas.
Lore, which is based on the podcast phenomena, was created by those who brought to us the legendary series The Walking Dead and The X-Files. Each episode is based on a real story and real people, and I would have to say the more I watched it, the more I was hooked, to the extent that I rewatched some of the episodes to be able to memorize them and tell them to other people as my own.
Being a very picky viewer, I certainly do recommend both of these series to all those who are looking for something interesting to watch. We also recommend hosting your friends over to watch them, they’ll be perfect for an “after-show popcorn talk”.
